300TDi with manual gearbox = mechanical. 300TDi with auto gearbox = ECU. They may have palyed around toward the end of the 300 series run on the ES spec models I guess so that they could have cruise control but don't know for sure, probably not as the 300TDi continued into the MoD defender for longer. Today My Landrover discovery 1996 tdi 300i just had its dashboard oil light suddenly failing to go off after starting. There is a funny sound at the top of the engine which has developed and the engine oil light flikers on and off. when you try to rev the accelerator pedal the oil light stays permanently on. please advise Engine oil level is however ok.
