Posted October 7, 2014. First thing to check is that all of the doors are closed properly. If a door sensor does not think any door is closed it will try to lock, then unlock while flashing the indicators. Next you could try replacing the battery. They normally last a very long time but if the key has been in a bag or pocket for a long time

Press and hold the unlock button on the fob whilst turning the key to unlock. Keep it held for a second longer. The red light in the door know should start flashing and thats i recoding.
To program a new key then your security pin code would be required. Your remaining working key/chip could be cloned which is possibly the cheaper option. Cloning of keys is not normally recommend as the whole process of programming a new key requires all keys to be present so the missing / lost / stolen key can be deleted from the cars systems. The dealer then contacts retainagoup for the codes which are emailed to the dealer You pay £15.00 for them to do this. The cost of new remote keys was £178.26, and the cost of c.oding keys was £25.00 Total cost including the VAT was £261.91. Hope this helps.

To program the remote you can do yourself with multiecuscan and the appropriate cables but you will need the code card, but then so will fiat if you asked them to program it. And I'm not sure if you'd need a full licensed copy of ecu scan then cables etc.
