Strange, I know but it happens on the W203 models.. First disconnect your battery ground cable. (Very important) Then physically check your TCU module, and connector by disconnecting it and checking for any signs of oil or corrosion..

Mercedes E240 (W210) May 5, 2010. Thread starter. #5. Finally got the E-class back on the road. It turns out that the car had the wrong battery in it. Somewhere in it's lifetime a 66 amp jaguar battery was fitted and thus causing the gearbox ECU to lockdown. A new 100 amp battery has been fitted and all seems ok. J.
